Ho Chi Minh City plans to hold monthly events in the city centre in an aim to attract more tourists.
Tran Vinh Tuyen, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee, said events such as the Nguyen Hue Flower Street and “Áo Dài” Festival would continue to be held annually.
New events, including a fashion festival in September, light festival in November, a marathon, and sale promotions, will be introduced in a new forms.
In addition, more festivals will be held so that each month there will have at least one major event.
The fashion festival, to be held on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, will promote Viet Nam’s fashion products. Models will wear designs on a catwalk, and clothing products can be bought at the location.
The city also plans to encourage travel and airlines firms to promote shopping tours.
“The city will create monthly tourism products at an international level,” Tuyen said at a tourism conference last week.
