This type of green tea is made from the Camellia sinensis plant, the same plant from which all types of tea are made. Vietnamese green teas often come out bent like a fish hook, hence acquire the nick name fish hook tea. These green tea crops are harvested in the end of the winter each year, an ideal season for producing green tea. These plants are grown slower in cooler weather and therefore their leaves are smaller. Traditional Vietnamese green teas are fragrant with a scent of mung bean cake, slightly bitter when sipped yet provide a gently sweet aftertaste.
